Contact Terry

TERRY HAS BEEN INVOLVED in communications for higher education in one form or another for over 20 years. Starting out as a university editor and writer, his broad-ranging career includes being a designer and art director, working in video production, serving as director of university relations, and, more recently, architecting content management and social networking applications for our clients.

With an early affinity for all things electronic, Terry has evangelized the adoption of new communications technologies wherever he has worked. When the web arrived on the scene, he immediately took the opportunity to embrace the new medium. He joined Stein in 1999 to head up the interactive group, where his philosophy of structured "no surprises" project management and his user-centered design approach sets the tone for Stein's web and interactive projects.

As vice president of creative and interactive services, Terry gets a daily dose of enlightenment from Stein's talented design and web staffers. Otherwise, his job is to remind everyone that design thinking is not solely about narrow outcomes such as a viewbook or a web widget, but about strategy, processes, and understanding how human beings interface with the larger world.

When not in the office or online, you may find Terry working on an abstract painting, backpacking in the Grand Canyon, or being a foodie at Atlanta's latest hot restaurant. He holds a BA with honors from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and has won numerous CASE and UCDA awards. He blogs about design and marketing at webfyi.org.
