Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School
Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School is a co-educational boarding/day college preparatory school (6th through 12th grades) located about 100 miles north of Atlanta in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. RGNS celebrated its centennial anniversary in 2003 and enjoys a proud heritage of excellent liberal arts academics, extensive community service, and a "learn by doing" philosophy. An impressive 100 percent of Rabun Gap seniors apply and are accepted to selective colleges and universities.
The Challenge
While most of the boarding schools in the country are working double-time to maintain their boarding school enrollment, Rabun Gap wanted to attract more boarders, while also increasing enrollment of the local day student. How could a school located far away from any large metropolitan area position itself in the marketplace as a school of great inspiration and achievement for both boarders and locals?
Stein's "Keep It Simple" Approach
Enamored with Rabun Gap's picturesque mountain location and its highly motivated, achievement-oriented students, Stein's creative team naturally chose the theme: "Come Move Mountains." In the past five years, we have created two admission campaigns based on this phrase using highly energized photography and copy.
The Results
As part of the second campaign, a dozen "Mountain Movers" -- students who exemplify the spirit of Rabun Gap -- were featured in a mini-viewbook housed within the larger viewbook This engaging booklet also served as a strong standalone piece -- used often as a handout by the school's President, development team, and others. Also, as part of the second campaign, Stein created a micro-site for the Rabun Gap admission office that consisted of basic information for the prospective students and parents. Loaded with flash and lots of movement, the site beckons the viewer to come on in, stay awhile, and move mountains.
